The Empire Strikes Back on Atari 2600 VCS
This is a short video clip of me playing The Empire Strikes Back on the Atari 2600 VCS retro video games console.
Published by Parker Brothers in 1982.
Fly your snow speeder horizontally across Hoth's icy surface and try to destroy the Imperial At-At Walkers before they reach the rebel base.
With the scanner and horizontal direction of play, the game has a feel that is slightly reminiscent of Defender, also sharing that game's frantic atmosphere as the walkers get close to your base. Saying that, it lack's defender's depth and varied gameplay.
Nevertheless, Empire Strikes Back is easilly the best Star Wars game on the Atari 2600, and indeed, one of the best games overall, for the system.
