This is a short video clip of me playing Phoenix on the Atari 2600 VCS retro video games console.

Phoenix was an early "static, up the screen shooter", something of an advancement on Galaxian. It featured multiple levels, with varied attack patterns of multi-coloured birds, and featured possibly the first example of an "end of level boss".

The Atari 2600 version, while not arcade perfect by any means, is still a very good conversion of the game, and very impressive when you consider the limitations of the console.

This and the other retro gaming clips on this site aren't intended as full game reviews, but are simply to give viewers who weren't around when these games were popular, an idea of what video games used to be like.
